Sands Slipping Away

I am trapped in the wretched sands Charred landscape boundless an bare I wander under the celestial strands With my feet full of wear and tear I look for a glittering oasis I see across the land, the marvellous mirage My thirst overpowers breaking the stasis I dream of the oasis' vivid corrage But as I reach across the dune I bend down and pick with my left hand I see my hands in the middle of noon All I can see is the wretched coarse sand The sand slips from my fingers Like water on a frozen river The harder I press, the more I try The more of it I lose forever
