Ruins of Eternity
I looked at ruins of old carved stone
Which lay abandoned, left all alone
The shattered rocks of stone overrun by vines
Were they palaces or perhaps some shrines?
But now they live in dust and decay
Carved from rock, eternal they portray
Yet lie in disaster, under their own grandeur
Search for eternity, left it so poor
The ruins stay forgotten, become a relic of time
In a few centuries, they lost their prime
What to do of eternity, even if it is found
What does one do when buried in the ground?
How are these ruins better than a tree?
Eventually though they die, they rise from the debris
What is the use of eternity?
If there is no one left to see?
